  Sing With Me

Our program begins with children 4 and 5 years old in Sing With Me.  The director, Miss Kathlyn Sbarboro, teaches through musical games and movement. They will learn to distinguish high and low notes, loud and soft, and how to create a singing voice. Sing With Me meets from 12:30pm-1:15pm on Thursdays.

  Do Re Mi Choir

Children ages 6 and 7 our welcome to be a part of Do Re Mi Choir, directed by Mrs. Kirby Meza. They will develop a solid music foundation covering concepts such as rhythm and beat, matching pitch, and producing an age-appropriate unison tone.  Do Re Mi meets from 4:45-5:30 on Wednesdays.

  Treble Choir

Children ages 8 and older, who attend a “Welcome Night” are accepted into our Treble Choir where they develop their unison and simple two-part singing, learn basic music theory, and develop their Kodaly skills for sight singing. Mrs. Kirby Meza directs Treble Choir, and rehearses from 5:45pm-6:45pm on Wednesdays.

  Intermezzo Choir

New Singers who attend a “Welcome Night” and are familiar with music either from private instrumental lessons, school, or Treble Choir sing in our Intermezzo Choir with Mr. Ron Korbitz and Mrs. Kirby Meza where they continue to study music theory and develop their ability to sing more complex two-part harmony. Intermezzo rehearses from 4:45-6:30pm on Mondays (4:45-6:00 on alternating Mondays) in room 1B.

  Concert Choir

Singers who demonstrate their maturity, commitment, extended musical knowledge, and vocal development are ready to move into Concert Choir, our touring choir. Advancement to this Choir is done by Vocal Evaluation by the PCC Staff.  While all of our choirs perform at Cutting Hall twice a year, Concert Choir performs many times throughout the year at a wide variety of venues. In addition, to their bi-annual tours they have performed the National Anthem for the Chicago Sting, the Rockford Cubbies, and the Chicago White Sox; entertained members of the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association at their annual conference; and continue to perform at a number of local churches and special events including Palatine’s annual holiday tree lighting ceremony.  Concert Choir rehearses from 5:45-8:00pm on Mondays (6:30-8:00 on alternating Mondays) in room 1B.

  Honors Choir

Members of our fifth choir, Honors Choir, are part of Concert Choir but also learn their own challenging repertoire and perform throughout the Chicago area. Singers are moved into this choir by Vocal Evaluation by the PCC Staff.  These are our most accomplished, talented, dedicated musicians who have enjoyed performing the National Anthem for the Chicago Cubs and honoring the Park District’s retired Executive Director Fred Hall by performing at the 2002 Illinois Parks and Recreation Association Annual Conference. Honors rehearses from 5:45-9:00 on Mondays (6:30-9:00 on alternating Mondays) in room 1B.
